Evangelos on Eleytheros Typos

Evangelos gave an interview about the World Intelligence Network, the CIVIQ, HELLIQ and OLYMPIQ High IQ Societies, which was published on the Greek Newspaper Eleytheros Typos in 2010 02 27

GIGA Society links update

Just to catch up with an interesting web update.

GIGA Society members’ works page has been updated and links to the World Intelligence Network, the CIVIQ, HELLIQ, OLYMPIQ Societies in addition to links to Evangelos’ philosophy Sententias, Scenarios, Articles and Web  projects are published.

Enjoy!

World Clock

I found an interesting dynamic online world statistics tool posted at:

http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock.swf

births and deaths, humans and animals, nature and resources are all monitored there at any moment. give it a go.

i think it is at least interesting and a far more objective experience comparing to our subjective everyday reality to feel like what we practically are, a minor part of this planet..

Love / Sick ?

Let’s suppose that somebody falls in love. It has happened to all of us (hopefully) and it is happening everyday, everywhere at any time and any part of this planet.

He/She will him/herself feel extraordinarily optimistic, positive, happy and usually energetic.

His/her friends will name him/her lucky, crazy, mad, gullible or in some cases even numb.

His/her employer will refer to him/her as out-of-mind, distracted, careless or near future unemployed.

A psychiatrist would most possibly diagnose him/her with a mild to severe dependent personality disorder*.

And the question is: what is the truth? who is right and who is not? what is all about that powerful, motivating, subversive and uncontrollable feeling, named Love?

IntelliGenes? (Intelligence Genes)

Browsing the current literature about Genes, I came across SNPedia, which is a wiki investigating human genetics. There you can find information about the effects of variations in DNA, citing peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Searching for IntelliGenes* , Genes associated with high intellectual performance, current scientific works point to the SNAP25 gene, which encodes a presynaptic terminal protein, primarily expressed in the brain. You can also visit the relevant SNPedia page (external link, opens in new tab)

In a more detailed search, I found the following chromosome positions currently being related to intelligence:

* IntelliGenes: is a term I just figured out relating Intelligence and Genes

What would you do if you knew all about your genome?

As already mentioned in the iq > research page of this web, I took part in a DNA sequencing and consequently a full genome analysis targeting genes responsible for high intellectual performance in late 2009.

Only recently, my genome analysis first results were disclosed to me. And a couple of questions are making me wonder: is such a research a first step, which advances anyone’s awareness of his fate incluing bits and pieces from his future medical situation? Are humans supposed to know their biological background in such details and why? Is this process beneficial or not? For instance, if such results for a specific individual disclosed a very high susceptibility to a specific malignancy, would that piece of information lead him to quit smoking or would make him override any rules and precautions?

Looking forward to thinking with you

Evangelos

Welcome!

Welcome to Evangelos Katsioulis’ blog-based online reference!

Evangelos is a Greek Medical Doctor spec. in Psychiatry. He is an active member in several IQ societies and the founder of an IQ organization and three high IQ societies. In addition to his medicine studies, he was challenged to study philosophy too.
